A Quick Word with Celestino Caballero

Ivan Montiel had a chance to talk to featherweight Celestino Caballero earlier this evening.  The lanky Panamanian takes on Jason Litzau in a 130lb clash Saturday night on HBO.  The quotes are translated from Spanish by Ivan.

On any issues making weight...

"No, not at all.  Training went very well.  I had an excellent camp and didn't have to sacrifice anything.  I'm ready for Saturday."

On his second fight under trainer Jeff Mayweather...

"Jeff has taught me a few new things in the gym, and you can expect to see more from El Pelenchin."

Is he trying to borrow a little of Floyd Mayweather Jr's style...

"That's right.  That's some of what Jeff is trying to teach me."

Should he get by Litzau, who's next?

"I'm willing to fight the champions at 126lbs anytime.  Unfortunately they have not wanted any part of me.  We'll see what happens after Litzau.

His pick for the main-event...

"Great match up.  I'm going with Marquez who has the better discipline.  Both are warriors, but Marquez has much better boxing skills."
