The Alexandra Palace in Wood Green, London was host to a pair of European title fights this past Saturday, with Darren Barker and Affif Belghecham battling it out for the vacant middleweight crown, and Audley Harrison going up against his previous conquerer, Michael Sprott, for heavyweight honours.

English middleweight Darren Barker (22-0) won a hard fought decision from Affif Belghecham (19-5-1). The Barnet fighter got off to a great start, before holding off a hard charge down the stretch from the relentless Frenchman. The scores were 116-112, 116-114 and 118-110; the lopsided final tally certainly not representative of the close contest.

In a battle of English heavyweights, Audley Harrison (27-4) produced one of the most stunning finishes ever seen in a British ring. Fighting with an injured right shoulder, and well down on the scorecards, Harrison knocked out Michael Sprott (22-14) with a huge left hook a little over one minute into the twelfth and final round.
