The Boxing Bulletin Pick'em Game - Week 8
Only 3 of the 10 weeks to go until we crown the first Pick'em Game winner. New players are of course welcome to join in and battle for weekly honors.
Week 7: Standings and Results Summary
Included this week are 3 fights, plus the prizefighter cruiserweight tournament. Simply make your selections in the comments section, and we'll tabulate the results and post the standings on Monday.
Here’s the line-up for Week 8:
1.) Floyd Mayweather Jr vs Shane Mosley - May 1
a.) Pick the winner
3.5 points for picking Mayweather to win.
11.5 points for picking Mosley to win.
b.) Will the fight go the distance (scheduled for 12)
2.5 points for yes
7.5 points for no
c.) Will Mosley win a combined total of at least 10 rounds on the 3 official judges scorecards? (a knock-out win for Mosley automatically counts as yes, and if Mosley gets stopped, but has already reached 10, that's also a yes)
5 points for yes
5 points for no
2.) Hozumi Hasegawa vs Fernando Montiel - April 30 (make sure you get your picks in on time for this one, as it starts early in the morning American/Canadian time!)
a.) Pick the winner
6.5 points for picking Hasegawa
8.5 points for picking Montiel
b.) Will the fight go to the distance?
4 points for picking yes
6 points for picking no
3.) Daniel Ponce de Leon vs Cornelius Lock - May 1
a.) Pick the winner
2 points for picking Ponce de Leon to win.
4 points for picking Lock to win.
4.) Prizefight Cruiserweight Tournament - April 30
a.) Who will win?
3 points - Group 1 - Herbie Hide
5 points - Group 2 - Jon-Lewis Dickinson, Darren Corbett & Matt Krence
9 points - Group 3 - John Anthony, Zahid Kahut, Wayne Brooks & Leon Williams
Explanation - If you select Group 2, you will receive 5 points if any of the 3 listed fighters win. A pick of Group 3 means you've got all 4 of those fighters going for you (not necessarily a good thing).
Deadline for entries including the fight in Japan is 5 AM EST on Friday, April 30.

You got the picks in just before the fight started, so we would have given the points to you. Montiel had other ideas though!

Missed out on the Montiel-Hasegawa fight, damn it. A handicap for the top fiver...
1.
a) Mayweather
b) yes
c) yes
3.
a) Ponce de Leon
… and what’s more bumming about this is that, damn I would’ve picked Montiel and Group 2! Damn!
I should've had 19.5 points more by now!
Argh! Damn.
Lesson learned for sure… the painful way. So maybe I can’t win this season (the topnotchers are a bit too far anyway). I just have to wait for next season. I don’t know if I’ll have surgery on this handicap or just play through it. LOL. =)
