Pick'em Game Week One Standings
Before we get to the results, we must point out that all picks made for the Perez/Mares fight were not counted. As nobody (well, except geniuses A.F. and Fj-3) passed on the "pick the winner" selection for that fight, it didn't seem right to subtract points from everyone's score. We will clarify the policy regarding draws with the Week Two line-up, but for now lets get to this week's accolades...
In first place, is the aforementioned genius, A.F. with 32 points, scoring those points with doubles on Marquez to win and Marquez by stoppage. Next up is a 3 way tie for second place, with cyke, BrianBrock and jrok all totalling 30 points. All 3 players used a double on Marquez to win, and also correctly picked Marquez to win by stoppage and the fight going under 8.5 rounds. In fifth place is thp0344 with 27 points, also picking selections A & B correctly, but passing on the over/under. Rounding out the top 10 is SC with 25 points, Sam5001, last season's winner thenonpareil, Fj-3 with 24 points, and Sweet science and sigidy with 23 points.

Took me little time to work out but I put over instead of under for Marquez. That will teach me for not checking what I type after I post it

Maybe its because of the result, but i’m actually liking the doubles format. Doubles would be great toward the end of the season when hail mary picks are needed to catch up. The downside of losing points in this format keeps things interesting with the flux in points totals. This prevents players from coasting once they have a lead.
Fun times as always.
I don’t see why some guys are having a problem with this format. It’s basically the same game, except a little more interesting because it favors consistency, and the doubles test how “sure” you are about an outcome. One of the problems with the last game was that if you jumped into it late, you didn’t have much hope of catching the leader. Not the case, this time around.

BTW
Thanks to The Boxing Bulletin for running these games. We had something similar going at BLH awhile back and it was pretty fun.

hahaha! Wow, I had no idea what the doubles thing meant and I, inadvertently, asked for two doubles both of which I lost! Well, now I know for next time! Good stuff!
You weren’t charged with any doubles, as you only listed 1 number by each selection and it was assumed you were referring to the number of the fighter.

Ahhh, well yes, that was exactly what I meant when I wrote those numbers, so great! But now I see what the doubles thing means, so hopefully I’ll be able to do it right next time. BTW, I can’t really speak to how the game was played previously… this is the first time I’m playing so it’s all good =) Cheers!
Ha ha ha ha
1.5 points in week 1. H ah ah. I’m on a roll now.
