Quick Flurries: Cotto-Margarito, Abraham-Froch, Mosley-Martinez
Miguel Cotto could be getting another crack at Antonio Margarito later this year according to Dan Rafael's blog. Adamant in the past that he would never do battle with his disgraced rival again, Cotto's apparent change of heart can't be too surprising given Margarito is likely the best option in terms of both a big payday and a winnable fight at 154lbs.
ESPN - Dan Rafael Blog ...They're not talking about it publicly, and there's always a chance it won't happen, but Top Rank and HBO PPV are looking at Dec. 4 as the date for a possible Antonio Margarito-Miguel Cotto rematch. Margarito, of course, still needs to be licensed in the United States.
Having been cracked by Mosley last year, the Tijuana fighter didn't look like his former indomitable self in his comeback effort against Roberto Garcia. Chances are the Puerto Rican star senses some vulnerability in his former conquerer and a nice opportunity for sweet revenge.

Karl Freitag of Fightnews.com reports that no real progress has been made in nailing down a location for the final Super-Six group-stage match between Arthur Abraham and Carl Froch.
Fightnews - Abraham-Froch Update ...the Abraham camp says neither Montreal nor September 18th are certain. "They are an unlikely, but still a possible scenario," Chris Meyer, the managing director for Sauerland Event, informed Fightnews.com.
There's no getting around the fact that fighting on home turf is a big edge in this sport and considering the stakes and for the integrity of a tournament, neither fighter should go into the fight with any kind of avoidable disadvantage. Let's hope this gets settled soon in the fairest possible manner.

BoxingScene.com's Rick Reeno is reporting that a bout between middleweight king Sergio Martinez and Shane Mosley has become a possibility...
Boxing Scene - Sergio Martinez Pitch For a Shane Mosley Clash is Made... Promoter Lou DiBella has advised BoxingScene.com that he made a serious offer to Golden Boy Promotions for a catch-weight bout between WBC middleweight champion Sergio Martinez and former two division champion Shane Mosley
It's not hard to see why the Martinez camp is interested in going after the Californian. Mosley offers name value, and when you consider the difficulty he had during his prime with bigger rangier boxers, it's hard to see the bout being all that competitive. This is just a lousy style match-up for the old man, but regardless of that - it's time Sugar Shane hung up his gloves. He's already started down the familiar path of fighters that don't know when the gig is up, and it would be a real shame to see him take unnecessary punishment at this stage.

Wow, Martinez/Shane is as unappealing as the rumor read about Mora/Shane earlier. If Mosley is going to fight, I think a fight with Ouma makes sense.
Yeah, I don’t want to see either of those fights. Really, I just don’t want to see Mosley in there anymore. It’s pointless at this stage… there comes a time when these guys need to consider their quality of life after they retire, and that should be a bigger concern right now for Mosley than any delusions of future glory.

Exactly
Shane needs to retire. He was showing signs of permanent damage before his last fight. After 30 years of boxing, it’s time to stop.

I didn’t see those signs myself, but he certainly has nothing left to prove. I’m just past trying to tell grown men to retire, I don’t think JMM needs to do this anymore either. But what I will complain about is poor matchmaking and this is just cashing in on a warrior that has given his all. That pisses me off.
