Scheduled Event
Guerrero, Porter and Lane Score Stoppages
Andrew Fruman recaps last night's Shobox card.
Shobox capped off its 2009 schedule Friday night with a triple-header, featuring impressive performances by a trio of sharp looking prospects.
In the main-event and most competitive bout of the show, middleweight Fernando Guerrero continued his steady ascent up the ranks with a 4th round stoppage of a very game Jessie Nicklow.
After pushing the pace of the contest through the opening 3 rounds with a steady two handed attack that included some punishing body work, Guerrero took complete command early in the 4th.
A hard right hook from the 23 year old that sent Nicklow falling sideways into the ropes did the initial damage. Using the ropes for support, Nicklow pulled himself up almost immediately from the canvas and bravely fought back, but was no match for Guerrero’s heavy combinations, and was on unsteady legs when referee Mark Nelson jumped in to end it at the 2:09 mark.
